Archaeoacoustics research digitally resurrecting the lost acoustic reverberation of Notre-Dame and Hagia Sophia through high-density impulse response modeling.
Why I created this today:
Sacred architecture was engineered for the ear long before it was designed for the eye. The soaring masonry of Romanesque abbeys, Byzantine pendentive domes, and Gothic rib vaults turned stone into living musical instruments capable of suspending Gregorian chant notes in air for over 10 seconds. In this archaeoacoustic chamber, you can trace sound ray reflections, adjust wall material absorption coefficients (porous tufa, polished marble, carved oak choir stalls), compute Sabine RT60 reverberation times, and listen to sacred organ harmonics reverberating through the space.
