Voyager 1 reaching 165 AU in interstellar space as NASA engineers execute final power conservation protocols on humanity's furthest emissary.
Why I created this today:
Bolted to the side of Voyager 1 and 2, the Golden Record is a greeting cast into an ocean of stars, built to survive for over a billion years. On its gold-plated copper face are etched the hyper-fine transition of neutral hydrogen, the coordinates of fourteen pulsars, and analog audio grooves encoding music, greetings in 55 languages, and 115 black-and-white images. In this simulator, you can align the pulsar timing map, spin the golden disc at 16⅔ RPM, decode analog video scanlines onto an oscilloscope tube, and listen to interstellar plasma waves.
